Charles Evered

Charles Evered is an award winning writer and director who graduated from Rutgers - Newark as well as the Yale School of Drama. He served in the US Navy Reserve, reaching the rank of Lieutenant. He has written several plays, most of them published by Broadway Play Publishing. He directed the feature film “Adopt a Sailor” starring Emmy winners Bebe Neuwirth and Peter Coyote as well as Ethan Peck. The play version of “Adopt a Sailor” has toured all fifty states. In addition, he has written for the hit series “Monk,” starring Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub. In 2024 he was named Artist in Residence at the George Washington Birthplace National Monument in Colonial Beach, Virginia. In 2025 he was named a Research Fellow at the American Revolution Institute at the Society of the Cincinnati in Washington D.C. In February of 2026 he will direct the short film “Kinda Like Math” in Los Angeles. He is the proud father of Margaret Evered of Richmond, Virginia and John O’Hara Evered of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Charles lives in Richmond and Shenandoah, Virginia.

Medal of Honor Rag

In an army hospital, a black winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor and a psychiatrist, both guilty survivors of war, verbally spar until the doctor draws out the horror and disgust that has traumatized D.J. His barriers crumbling, D.J. turns on the psychiatrist and exposes the man behind the professional facade. Yet D.J. desperately hopes and the psychiatrist believes he can be helped.
